The Directors Event, South Africa’s biggest board meeting has announced the speaker line-up for the 9th iteration of the annual leadership conversation. The Directors Event is presented in association with BCX and the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 Companies.
This year’s event will be mc’d by broadcast journalist, Gugulethu Mfuphi, where three panels will be convened. Dr Pali Lehohla, the former Statistician General of South Africa, will deliver the keynote address with Jonas Bogoshi, CEO of BCX, providing opening remarks.
In the first panel discussion social impact means business for South Africa which will be moderated by moderated by Gugulethu Mfuphi, the focus will land on how business can better deliver social impact for the country. Contributors to the conversation include Brent Lindeque (Editor and Chief, Good Things Guy), Prof Lauren Graham (Associate Professor and Director, Centre for Social Development in Africa, University of Johannesburg), Dr Mmaki Jantjies (Group Executive: Innovation and Transformation, Telkom SA), Gavin Krugel (CEO, Digital Frontiers), and Carmel Kistasamy (Head: Global Development Organisations, Pan Africa, Absa Group).
Alishia Seckam is the moderator in a conversation that will analyse the dynamics that shape the reality of South Africa’s energy and infrastructure crisis. The South Africa re-energised panellists include Jacob Maroga (Director, Erinite Energy and former CEO of Eskom), Busisiwe Mavuso (CEO, Business Leadership South Africa), John Dludlu (CEO, Small Business Institute), Steven Kaplan (2023 President, The South African Institution for Civil Engineering) and Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa (Minister of Electricity, The Presidency).
In the final panel discussion – The hum of tech-savvy businesses and communities – Faith Mangope will moderate a technology-driven discussion that looks at smart technologies to help shape the future of South Africa, together with Arnold Netshambidi (CEO, Phambano Technology Development Centre), Khethiwe Nkuna (Responsible Business Executive, Accenture in Africa), Joseph Ndaba (4IR Commissioner, Presidential Commission on the Fourth Industrial Commission), and Zweli Vilakazi (Chief Financial Officer, BCX).
