Highlighting Africa’s immense potential as leaders discuss “Transforming South Africa’s Digital Future”

On 7 November 2023, The Business Day Dialogues LIVE Series will be hosting ‘Connect Africa’ where the pivotal role of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and sophisticated data centres in powering South Africa’s digital future will be the topic of discussion.

Although digitisation is already transforming African economies in several ways, the continent’s journey is in its infancy. As South Africa and Africa as a whole stands on the cusp of a technological revolution that holds the power to reshape the way in which its citizens engage in both their business and personal lives, the immense power of digital transformation Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and sophisticated data centres are set to enhance efficiency, increase affordability and quite literally change the way African businesses become essential players within the global economy.

Business leaders have a pivotal role to play in advancing digital transformation beyond simple connectivity, through managed end-to-end digital connectivity solutions across Africa that open opportunities for them to build the businesses they want now, and in the future. This crucial topic will be opened for discussion at the Business Day Dialogues, Connect Africa – an executive breakfast series event powered by BusinessLIVE. Dr Ayotunde Coker, CEO of Open Access Data Centres (OADC) and Chairperson of influential industry group, the Africa Data Centres Association, will be leading the conversation and bringing his vast industry experience to the table.

“This is a dynamic period for business in Africa, with transformation driving rapid expansion of the continent’s digital infrastructure”, says Coker. “For the first time, Africa has the opportunity to leapfrog the world, maximise its potential and deliver economic growth by providing a digital infrastructure that will attract further inward investment, as well as enable local organisations to take full advantage of pan-African and global opportunities.”

The discussion will be guided by Aki Anastasiou, one of South Africa’s foremost futurists and technology influencers. He is known for his passion for innovation and digital transformation and their profound effects on both global citizens and businesses.

Audience members will be able to join insightful discussions, connect with industry pioneers, decision-makers and innovators, understand the latest trends and advancements in IXPs, data centres and connectivity infrastructure and discover more about the impact of broadband penetration on GDP growth, among other things.
