Refilwe Maluleke, Managing Director, Yellowwood

Refilwe joined the Yellowwood team as Strategy Director in January 2016. She is an experienced marketer with over 15 years in the FMCG sector working across multiple brands and geographies.

Refilwe began her career at Unilever in 2006. There she joined the Asia, Africa, Middle East and Turkey (AAMET) team where she worked on the spreads and dressings portfolio across sub-Saharan Africa. The mix of brands allowed her to build her ability to make global brands locally relevant, as well as build strategies for local brands.

In 2010 she moved SABMiller where she worked on Hansa Pilsener, the third largest beer brand in South Africa, for five years. Her time there included work on strategy, sponsorship and communication development.

Refilwe has Business Science degree with Honours in Marketing from the University of Cape Town, and recently completed her MBA at Cass Business School in London.

She was appointed as Managing Director on the 1st of January 2018.

In 2019 she took the opportunity to join the pioneering Multichoice business as the Executive Head of Marketing and now leads the of the DStv brand in South Africa. She is bodily steering this iconic home grown brand into the new era of video entertainment and content creation and consumption

Zukiswa Modisakeng, Senior Manager: Brand, Communication & Consumer Segment Marketing, Telkom

Zukiswa Modisakeng is the Senior Manager: Brand, Communication & Consumer Segment Marketing at Telkom. She is responsible for creating marketing strategies & go-to market plans. Other responsibilities include design of Consumer Value Proposition for various Telkom segments. Her experience includes driving various products and business solutions at different stages of their evolutionary cycles across diverse market segments in the information & communications technology sector.

Doug Place, Chief Marketing Officer, Nando’s Africa, Middle East, and South Asia

Doug Place is the Chief Marketing Officer of Nando’s Africa, Middle East, and South Asia.

Prior to Nando’s Doug held the position of Marketing Executive of Ster-Kinekor Theatres. Before joining Ster-Kinekor, Doug worked at Cadbury South Africa.

He has received more than 100 international and national marketing and advertising awards including 3 Loeries Grand Prix awards. In 2019 Doug was named the most admired Marketing professional in South Africa in the Scopen report, and Nando’s the most admired brand. In 2018 Doug was awarded the Marketing & Innovation Award at The Loeriestm. Destiny Man Magazine rated him as one of South Africa’s ‘Young and Powerful’ industry leaders in 2015 and in 2014 he was named one of the “Top 40 Under 40” in South African media personnel by The Media publication.

She is currently a Miss Teen of South Africa finalist 2021. Founder and CEO of Bonolo Sisterhood Club that focuses on young girls learning about the environment, tourism, leadership, woman empowerment and many more. One word I would use to describe myself is creative.
