Project Description
Over the course of the past year South Africa has been battling the pandemic, along with the rest of the world. In response, the National Government declared a National State of Disaster and with that has come restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the virus. Initially, it was a hard lock down, which saw the country come to a halt with a blanket ban on alcohol and even exercising being restricted. We were then moved to less stringent alert levels with the economy gradually opening up to essential work and eventually to full trade. Yet, National Government has continued to open and shut the alcohol industry when Covid-19 infection rates have started to climb.
Join us for the Business Day Dialogues Live in partnership with the Beer Association of South Africa as we discuss the unintended consequences of the alcohol bans, how we can save both lives and livelihoods during the pandemic, while discussing alternative solutions to curb excessive drinking that causes social harm and whether the approach taken has been the right one.
