Project Description
The Constitution purports to guarantee the rights of all its citizens. The Universal Declaration on Human Rights urges states to fulfil, protect and promote the rights of all people. In spite of these guarantees, gender-based violence and femicide have reached critical levels in our society and GBVF has now been declared a national crisis by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Addressing this scourge in our society requires a response from every member of our communities and our society as a whole. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Masimanyane Women’s Rights International, the Daily Dispatch and The Herald have partnered with Masimanyane to hold a dialogue that discusses the progress we have made in respect of women’s human rights but also to unpack the challenges we face in respect of gender-based violence and femicide. Join us to hear some experts share their perspectives and add your voice to the conversation. Register here to book your space.
