The annual leadership conversation is scheduled for 9 June 2023 and will be presented in association with BCX and the prestigious <em>Sunday Times Top 100 Companies. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year we\u2019ll tackle why sustainability is so complex and whether it can be simplified and reset, \u00a0and what resolutions are required to get this right,\u201d says Mandisa Ntloko-Petersen, Chief Marketing Officer of BCX Group. The theme for the 2023 event is <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>Sustainable business shaping the future of South Africa<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The agenda for this executive gathering looks to challenge South African corporates to become more impactful in their sustainable business ambitions. \u201cWe are all key stakeholders,\u201d adds Ntloko-Petersen. The Directors Event will seek to distil clearcut views that drive towards clear resolutions for South Africa\u2019s business collective. This mandate is further supported by the Institute of Directors (IoD).<\/p>\n<p>Actionable outcomes will be pursued through three panel discussions that will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a focus around how business can better deliver social impact for the country <em>&#8211; Social impact means business for South Africa<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>a conversation that analyses the dynamics that shape the reality of South Africa&#8217;s energy and infrastructure crisis, in a session titled <em>South Africa re-energised<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>and a third technology-driven discussion &#8211; <em>The hum of tech-savvy businesses and communities \u2013<\/em> that looks at smart technologies to help shape the future of South Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ntloko-Petersen notes that a net positive effect on the economy is possible if we make sustainability the new basis for doing business and use smart technologies to help shape the future of our country.<\/p>\n<p>But to get to that point, she says that we need to clarify, \u201cWhat does sustainable business actually mean on the ground for South African companies? How do we reduce costs and contribute to economic growth and inclusivity while piloting new technologies and commercial ways to realise sustainable best practice in business?\u201d New technology development is feasible but may not be easily affordable, so how can SA\u2019s start-ups and SMEs be supported?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe economic resilience that we can enable through homegrown innovation has the power to unlock our potential and inspire the world\u201d, she concludes.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s keynote address will be delivered by Dr Pali Lehohla, former Statistician General,
