Eskom CEO, Andre de Ruyter<\/strong>, and chairman of the Absa Group, Wendy Lucas-Bull<\/strong>, will be headline speakers at the 6th<\/sup> edition of The Directors Event<\/em>, to be streamed online on October 20 this year.<\/p>\n

Billed as \u2018SA\u2019s biggest board meeting\u2019, The Directors Event – futured by BCX and presented in association with the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA) – forms part of the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies<\/em> profile. It is where senior management and C-level executives in South Africa\u2019s business community come together to unpack major issues affecting the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year\u2019s conference is \u2018Building a Sustainable New Normal\u2019<\/em>. High profile participants in three panel discussions will debate the revival of the South African economy, skills development and job creation on the back of 4IR, and the management of climate change to support the country in becoming self-sufficient.<\/p>\n

The Directors Event will commence with de Ruyter\u2019s keynote address live from Eskom, followed by Lucas-Bull\u2019s delivery of the annual Chairman\u2019s Report.<\/p>\n

Previous headline speakers have included South Africa\u2019s chief justice, Mogoeng Mogoeng, Nhlanhla Nene (former finance minister), Jabu Mabuza (former chairman, Eskom and Telkom), Caroline Galvan (lead economist, World Economic Forum), and Mcebisi Jonas (former deputy minister of finance), amongst others.<\/p>\n
